JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning/Curriculum

RESPONSIBLE TO: Superintendent of Knox Community Schools

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY: To work with the Superintendent of Schools to oversee the general

operation of the school district, by working with directors, coordinators, principals, assistant

principals, and building staff to build vision, set priorities, and develop long- and short-range

plans for the school district.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Superintendent shall:

  • Provide leadership for the instructional program
  • Supervise the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the K-12 education program
  • Provide support to schools in implementing district-adopted curriculum, staff development, and instructional improvement programs
  • Write, budget, implement, and monitor all federal and state grants; finalize and submit required reports to the Indiana Department of Education
  • Serve as Title I Administrator
  • Serve as Title II Administrator
  • Serve as Title IV Administrator
  • Serve as CTC for the district testing program
  • Serve as EL Coordinator
  • Serve as HA Coordinator
  • Serve as the McKinney-Vento liaison
  • Serve as the Migrant Education Program liaison
  • Serve as the communicator coordinator with the superintendent
  • Administer the new teacher program
  • Oversee the online evaluation process; update Staff Evaluation Plan annually
  • Serve as district Apex Administrator
  • Serve on the Administrative Team
  • Participate in the selection and evaluation of administrative personnel and other staff
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate the District Attendance Program and personnel
  • Provide support to the Superintendent
  • Assume other such responsibilities and duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent
  • Oversees district attendance
  • Attend after school activities as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a Master's Degree
  • Possess a valid State of Indiana Building Level Administrator license
  • Demonstrate competency in communicating effectively with staff, district personnel, members of the general public, and representatives of other local, state, and federal agencies
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate expertise in grant writing and program administration
